On a blustery day with rain threatening several members ventured out into the harbour to sail past the Commodore’s “Barge” (cleverly disguised as Ric Donaldson’s fully dressed Raison Debt) on Saturday, June 12 at 1330.Also on board were Karen McLean from the Toronto Island Sailing Club, Jann Coppen and Ross

A hardy crowd made the 40 minute trek to the clubhouse on January 1, 2010 for the annual Commodore’s NewYear’s Day Leveé and enjoyed a few hours of sailing chat and communal snacks and beverages, while the snow drifted by outside. An energetic group of eight deck hands gave the clubhouse a much needed spring cleaning on Saturday April 8 in readiness for the start of the season.Under the inspired guidance of Vice-Commodore Liz Lytle, the swabs included Commodore John Darby, Rear Commodore Jim Ivison, Life Member Ralph Johnston, Past Commodore Mark Richardson, Patricia Sadlier, Judith Schutz and Linda Stewart.

Even though the weather was perfect there was only a small turnout for the Sailpast on Saturday, July 16. The Commodore’s yacht Peccavi was dressed in club regalia and took the salute with Director John Darby on board as crew. Led by Vice-Commodore Claude Alexander in Çá Va with smartly attired Vicki Alexander and Past Commodore Neill Holloway on board, the fleet followed on a gentle reach, with Jordan Neumann’s Shark Pura Vida bringing up the end of the line.

We are already booking trips for next year and have news of our first reciprocal visiting club – PCYC who will be bringing more then 40 boats on the May long weekend.

HCYC trips planned are Cathedral Bluffs, Port Credit and the Oakville Club on August 11 and 12, 2007 (already confirmed with Larry). New destination planned is Port Dalhousie YC. More details on that in the spring. You new Commodore will be cruising in the Caribbean again in February, this ...

GREEKS ON FIRE

Once Derek Saint had fired up the BBQ and thrown on the kebabs, the 20 members and their half-dozen or more guests who attended our Greek themed feast on September 9 ran for cover in the club house to escape the blasts from the Virgin concert. “I’d rather put my head in a bucket and hit it with a hammer,” one member muttered. However, the grub was excellent and the ambience cosy to say the least.

More than two dozen sailors on 11 boats, including all officers of the Club, arrived at The Oakville Club on Saturday, August 12. Three boats went on Friday. The weather was sunny and the wind perfect for a straight run down. BYOB and BYO snacks under the umbrellas that Dockmaster Larry Hardabura arranged were an even bigger success than before and about 16 members went for an excellent dinner together at the Café Galleria. More than 20 club members joined the July 8 and 9 cruise to the Port Credit Yacht Club. The weather was fair and the winds light. BYOB and BYO snacks on the lawn in front of the clubhouse were a great success, especially the “running lights” cocktails mixed by Max (aka Chris) Diamond. Some members opted for the formal dining room, some for the less formal pub and others BBQ’d.
