Update: Water Levels

Hello HCYC Members,

We wanted to give you an update on the water level situation. As water levels continue to rise our Board of Directors has decided, for the safety of our members, to put all club events and cruises on hold for the foreseeable future. Ideally, this will only affect our first cruise to Mimico Cruising Club that was scheduled for June 3rd and our Sailpast on June 10th but, we will continue to advise you.

As the water recedes we expect to be faced with some challenges around our clubhouse and trust we may count on your support, if necessary, in restoring the environs. In the same vein, we hope that those members that have not as yet paid their dues (May 31st deadline) will not use the situation as an opportunity to opt out. We need your financial support more than ever and as such will be extending the deadline until June 7th.

Lastly, we encourage you to use extreme caution if going cruising during this time. Many clubs have precarious docking and power situations, while water levels in general have made for challenging visibility of potential hazards and navigation. Below is the most recent update from LOCCA and Ontario Sailing:

Please see the updated lists below regarding high water levels and how they are affecting the clubs. Please share this information with your membership.
